DOCTORS
Martin Rivas, DVM (Owner/Medical Director)
Dr Rivas completed his Bachelors degree in Animal Science, and his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at the University of Georgia. After finishing school, he moved to Miami, Florida. Dr Rivas has a special interest in surgery, dentistry, and emergency medicine. He has been practicing as a full-time, and as a relief veterinarian for well known small animal practices and specialty centers in South Florida. He performs soft tissue emergency surgery at local ER/Specialty hospitals. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, and Board Member of the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Rivas is an USDA accredited veterinarian, which among his responsibilities for animal and human health, it allows him to sign health certificates for national and international travel for your pets. As a veterinarian, he is licensed to practice in Florida, Georgia, and California. When not practicing veterinary medicine, you may find him running, playing soccer, or at the local coffee shop.

Steffi V. (General Manager)
Steffi has harbored a deep passion for helping animals and giving them a voice since childhood. With a career in the veterinary field that began in 2008, she has dedicated herself to the well-being of animals. Her ultimate goal is to open a rehabilitation center for animals, where she can provide care, foster, and help adopt those in need, especially from high-risk shelters.
At home, Steffi shares her life with four beloved dogs and one cherished cat. In her spare time, she loves to unwind by taking long, cozy naps with her furry companions, and finding joy and comfort in their company.
Steffi’s commitment to animal welfare and her nurturing spirit make her a true advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Vanessa R. (Assistant Manager)
Vanessa joined Helpet in 2022 as a Veterinary Technician. Due to her dedication and outstanding performance, she has been promoted to Assistant Manager. Originally from Colombia, Vanessa began studies in Veterinary Medicine and Pharmaceutical Chemistry before moving to the United States, and she plans to complete her professional education in the future. Always eager and happy to provide the best service for pets, Vanessa also enjoys running, listening to music, and continuous learning. Her commitment to excellence and ongoing education reflects her passion for animal care and personal development.
Samantha Z. (Veterinary Receptionist)
Samantha joined our Helpet team in 2024 to share her passion and great energy to our clients. She has worked as a veterinary receptionist and technician in general and emergency practice.
Jackselim R. (Veterinary Nurse)
Jackselim is a passionate veterinary assistant with a solid background in veterinary medicine. Born and raised in Venezuela, Jackselim honed her skills as a veterinarian in her home country before bringing her expertise to her current role. Now, she’s excited to continue her journey of learning and growth, with a special appreciation to Dr. Rivas for the support. Jackselim is thrilled to contribute her enthusiasm and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of animals every day!

Nicole is a dedicated veterinary nurse from Brazil with a deep passion for veterinary medicine. Currently working in the field, Nicole dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Roger is a Miami native. He has been in our team for 2 years and is very excited his journey in a high end quality medicine practice. He is looking forward to helping you and your pet with all services. He is pursuing his education Certificate on Network and Software administration. In his free time he enjoys reading, longboarding, billiards, and shoe collecting. He is happy to continue sharing all his experience to help the growth of our practice.
Carla M. (Veterinary Assistant)
Carla was born and raised in Puerto Rico and since she was little, she has always loved and cared for animals. She started her first veterinary assistance job in 2014 and it motivated her to stay in the field. After Hurricane Maria hit the small island in 2017, she took the opportunity to continue her growth and passion here in Miami. Carla graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She is excited to grow her career at Helpet while helping you and your pet stay healthy.
